Another month, another set of updates we’re excited to share with you. This month, we’re giving you complete control over opponent modeling with Custom Profiles and kicking off PokerArena Season 5!

Custom Profiles: Build Your Own Opponents

When we launched Player Profiles last month, the goal was to help you practice against specific, exploitable archetypes. The feedback was fantastic, but we heard one request loud and clear: you wanted to build your own.

We’re thrilled to announce that Custom Profiles are now live.

Instead of just using our 7 default profiles, you can now model any player type you want. You can create your own from scratch, set their specific incentives to guide their behavior, and give them a unique name and description. This is a serious upgrade for modeling specific players you face or testing out new exploitative ideas.

How To Get Started:

Open the solution builder.
Select the “Profiles” button under any position.
Click “Custom” and then “Add a new profile.”
From there, set the incentives, name it, and save it for training.

After you’ve set up your profile, you can use exploitative strategies with it and train against it in practice mode!

What Are Profile “Incentives”?

Incentives are the driving force behind Custom Profiles. They push the profile to prefer or dislike certain actions (calling, folding, checking, or betting/raising).

For example, let’s say you wanted to model an aggressive player. Add +5% pot incentive to Bet/Raise, and the profile behaves as if every bet were rewarded with an extra 5% pot bonus. Aggression becomes more attractive, so they attack more often.

Conversely, if you add a -5% Fold incentive, the profile acts as if it loses an additional 5% of the pot every time it folds. This penalty makes folding less desirable, so it continues more often.

Note that these incentives are virtual. They guide the profile’s behavior but are ignored in the final expected value calculations.

PokerArena Season 5 Begins!

PokerArena has been more popular than we could have hoped, and it’s time to kick off the next season.

Season 5 is already shaping up to be our biggest yet, especially with the fantastic prizes on offer. We’ve upgraded the platform with several key features you’ve been requesting, along with several functionality improvements.

Key Updates for Season 5:

Streamer Mode: This feature is designed to prevent stream sniping. When active, it changes your nickname and avatar so your opponent can’t see who you are. It also conceals your opponent’s real name on your screen. You can find this in your dashboard settings.
Name Change Rework: We’ve reintroduced the ability to change your name. To prevent spamming, this is now limited to once per season, and the change will take effect when the new season resets. Choose wisely!
Persistent Game Settings: This is a minor fix that makes your life easier. You can now set your preferences (such as sound off or a preferred deck color) in the dashboard, and they will remain in effect for all your games.
Opponent Rank Display: You can now see the leaderboard position of your opponent directly on the matchmaking screen.

All Players:

Season Finish: Finish in Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Diamond to unlock the matching avatar for your rank.

Analyzer

We also shipped a nice quality-of-life update to the Analyzer. We’ve replaced the old, clunky upload tabs with a single, unified Upload Drawer.

All-in-One Upload Area: You can now drag-and-drop, select a file, select a folder, or copy-paste directly into one single, unified interface.
Instant Quota Display: We now show your remaining analysis quota (per format) directly in the drawer, so you know where you stand before uploading.
Settings Preview: You can also see your current solver configuration at a glance, letting you confirm your settings are correct before starting the analysis.

And remember, if you want to skip manual uploads entirely, you can set up Table Wizard to automatically upload hands from supported sites.
